A delightfully macabre entry in the age old tradition of horror anthologies and one of the first directed entirely by a woman. For what would be her directorial feature film debut, TV veteran Sharron Miller recruited broadcasting undergrads at Oklahoma State University with a modest budget of $685,000 and shot entirely within the rural state.
The overarching narrative linking these tales of terror consist of cheating fail-husband Talmudge (John Ericson) and his encounter with an ominous mortician and his mansion full of deceased bodies. The Mortician (Ivor Francis) begins to give insight into each corpse’s demise, resulting in stories full of anxieties around voyeuristic sadism, obsessive competition and most frightening of all… noisy children.
Those who haunt the hall of Spectacle invite you to bring your trick or treat spirit this Spectober for one of the grindhouse era’s most atmospheric and morbid gems.
